“More than 90% of marketers use social media” –

It’s no secret that social media is a driving force of a successful campaign. It’s a way for companies to engage with their target audience. With programs like Hootsuite, PR professionals have the ability to turn that engagement into measurable results.

Hootsuite is an incredible program that streamlines all social media in once place. You can schedule posts, monitor comments, search for consumer content, and so much more. Each social media platform has its own set of features that you can use to make the most out of your social media.

My personal favorite is the ability to search a stream. This is an Instagram feature that lets you see posts from a location you set. This allows you to find people who are talking about your product or company and engage with them.

Once you have crafted your social media strategy you’ll want to have measurable results. You need analytics and Hootsuite can help. There is a tab on the sidebar called analytics. Click that and a new window will show up displaying “an executive level overview of commonly aggregated metrics”

  • audience grow
  • engagement
  • website traffic
  • total posts

That’s only the start. As you explore the analytic section on a deeper level the reports become more precise and specialized to a certain topic. This means that you now have measurable data you can bring to your boss.

CEOs are concerned with ROI or return on investment. In other words, CEOs deal with money. It’s our job as the PR professional to translate engagement into data that can then be explained in monetary value.
